In the late 1980’s, Ray Schweighardt and I began work on “Drugs, Divorce and a Slipping image,” an in-depth chronicle of The Beatles’ infamous “Get Back” sessions from January, 1969. When St. Martin’s Press issued the book, they renamed it “Get Back - The Unauthorized Chronicle of The Beatles’ Let It Be Disaster.” In 2007, the book was extensively revised and re-written to combine information from the original book with all of the newer tapes chronicled in the earlier “’Get Back’ Guide,” making all of the earlier editions obsolete.

REVIEWS:

“This book stands as a monumental testament to sheer perseverance and first-class detective work, resulting in the first, and to date only, definitive account of the tumultuous events in the lives of The Beales during January, 1969. [...] ‘Drugs, Divorce and a Slipping Image’ is a tremendously important work for anyone attempting to understand The Beatles.” - Mark Wallgren, Goldmine, 10-13-95

“Get Back ranks among the most compelling accounts of the Beatles' final days; it's the rock-and-roll equivalent of reading Richard Nixon's surreptitious Oval Office tapes.” – The Dallas Observer

“The most valuable Beatles volume put out in recent years. [...] It’s a must for all Beatle fans.” - Peter C. Palmiere,
Beatlefan

“Page after page, day after day... a wealth of information!” - Rene Van Haarlem - Beatles Unlimited Magazine, March/April 1995

“An incredibly important volume that anyone with a deep interest in Beatle history needs to own.” - Steve Marinucci / Matt Hurwitz, Good Day Sunshine #82, May ’98

“’Drugs, Divorce and a Slipping Image’ is not merely a meticulously narrative account of a sad and turgid organic disintegration - it is a reference text. This book will long remain an invaluable, dog-eared source to the ‘Get Back’ sessions, as fans and scholars alike puzzle over the disintegration of a historic and influential group.” - Joe Bonomo, Popular Music Vol. 15/1, 1996 (Cambridge University Press)

“Once you’ve read ‘Drugs, Divorce and a Slipping Image’ you’ll appreciate how George Martin’s book was such a waste of potential. A must for any serious Beatles fan.” - Gillian G. Gaar, The Rocket, May 3-17, 1995

“This simply is the ultimate ‘Get Back Bible’. If it has been written by Mr. Lewisohn and was blessed by Apple, this book would have had massive attention by the world press.” - Beatles unlimited magazine, 1-2/98

“If you’re a Beatles fan, you must own this book. It is essential... and watch your ‘Let It Be’ video, because after you read ‘Drugs, Divorce and a Slipping Image,’ your perception of the movie will never be the same again.” - Robin Platts in Discoveries

“If you’ve ever listened to the bootlegs and wanted to hear more, then ‘Drugs, Divorce and a Slipping Image’ is for you. [...] in the ‘Let It Be’ film, director Michael Lindsay-Hogg included some footage of an argument between Paul and George, which apparently provoked George into quitting The Beatles for a few days... but Sulpy and Schweighardt’s research shows that the real disagreement was between George and John, and that it ook several crisis meetings away from the film set to bring the four Beatles back together again.” - The Beatles Monthly Book DRUGS, DIVORCE And a
SLIPPING IMAGE
